What are your favourite films, tv shows, genres or filmmakers? Independent films such as THE LOBSTER and THE DOUBLE are so influential to me, and I love exploring the unknown and underappreciated. I’m an avid fan of Japanese animation with directors such as Mamoru Hosoda and Makoto Shinkai taking the top spot.
What does having your writing published in DIEGESIS mean to you? Knowing that my thoughts have been taken into account by other people really pleases me, especially if I can help introduce new media to the public eye. Being able to turn my rambling thoughts into an article is somewhat alleviating and can even give me a better insight of the topic I am writing about through research.
What is your writing process? I always seem to start by compiling a large quantity of notes, which are then whittled down and formed into my finished written piece. I do a lot of thinking things through first, so often I’ll end up jotting all my thoughts down and then heavily editing everything. Writing to the film’s soundtrack always helps to get my brain in gear!
